My name is Melissa Treinkman, DMA, and I am a faculty member at the University of Southern California. I also hold a role as assistant professor of musical theatre vocal performance. My co-investigators are Jeannette LoVetri and Doug Peck. Jeannette Lovetri is a well-known vocal pedagogue in the United States and founder of Somatic Voicework. Doug Peck is prominent vocal coach in the US and a faculty member at the University of Southern California.

We are conducting a research study to learn more about the performance experiences of singers using amplification. The name of this research study is “A Preliminary Study Investigating the Effects of Amplification on Singers.” We are seeking your participation in this study. Your participation is completely voluntary, any concerns or questions at any point before or during the study will be answered by the investigators. You may be eligible to participate in this study if you meet the following criteria: 1. Ability to read and write in English. 2. You sing with amplification in live and/or recorded performance. 3. You are over 18 years old.

 If you decide to participate in this study, you will be asked to do the following activities: 1) Complete a 10-15 minute online survey about your experiences using amplified singing. The data collected will be included in an article to be published in a peer-reviewed journal on the voice. Participants will not be identified in the results. No personal, identifiable information will be collected in the questionnaire. Participants will not be identified in the results. I will take reasonable measures to protect the security of all your personal information. All data will be de-identified prior to any publication.
