Spiritual Exemplars: A Global Project on Engaged Spirituality
Exemplar Nomination
CRCC’s “Spiritual Exemplars: A Global Project on Engaged Spirituality,” funded by the John Templeton Foundation and Templeton Religion Trust, aims to explore how engaged spirituality motivates and sustains exemplary individuals’ commitment to advancing human flourishing. Journalists, social scientists and religious studies scholars will create case studies, podcasts, short documentaries and written profiles.
A “spiritual exemplar” must match five criteria:
- A living individual from anywhere in the world
- Inspired and sustained by spiritual values, beliefs or practices
- Significant impact that advances human flourishing
- Admired and emulated by others within and beyond their community
- Respects human rights, such as those defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
CRCC will choose a diverse set of exemplars from an initial list of more than 100 people and will suppliment this list with additional nominations from researchers, journalists and the public.
As a global project, CRCC aims to study exemplars across geographies, races and religions, including individuals who do not adhere to a particular tradition.
Thank you for taking the time to nominate a spiritual exemplar. Please complete all questions on the form to the best of your knowledge.
